Rostering with Classlink
Rostering is taking information from one system - such as Classlink - transforming that data, and then pushing it to another system - in this case the Merge EDU Platform. Rostering defines student, teacher, and classroom data and the relationship among each, and then converts that data into rosters that are used by the third-party applications.
Note: Rostering is NOT AVAILABLE for Merge EDU free trials
Follow the steps below to use Classlink to roster in Merge EDU:
Step 1. Sign in to Classlink and add the Merge EDU app
The first step to rostering in Merge EDU is to sign into your Classlink account, then add the Merge EDU app. Start typing "Merge EDU" into the search bar and it should pop up. Then select "Add."
Step 2. Setup sharing rules
Once you’ve added Merge EDU, you’ll need to set up your sharing rules. For example, If only one campus purchased Merge EDU, be sure to ONLY send over information for that campus. If 10 campuses in your district purchased Merge EDU, then be sure to send over information for all 10 campuses. Not sure which campuses you should roster? Step 3. Sign in to your Admin account on the Merge Dashboard using Classlink
Be sure you join your school/district Merge EDU subscription as an administrator. You will need admin access in order to roster. If you need help with this step contact the Merge EDU Subscription Owner for your campus or district, or email support@mergeedu.com.
When you sign in to the Merge Dashboard, use Classlink (not a username/password).
Step 4. Use the Roster page
Select "Roster" from the left side menu, then select "Import" and allow time for the roster import to complete. It may only take a few minutes to several hours, depending on how much data you are sending over. Do not close the tab until it completes, but feel free to work in another tab or window.
Step 5. Once rostering is complete, have teachers and students sign in with Classlink
Everything should now be ready for teachers and students to sign in! They should go to the Merge Dashboard or apps, then tap Classlink to sign in. This step will activate their account and sign them in.
Note: Roster data with Classlink automatically updates weekly.
