In this article, we’ll introduce you to the main sections of the 3D Object Editor:
- General Settings - select the workflow of your object
- Material Settings - modify the surface attributes of your object
- Thumbnail - take a new thumbnail to represent your object
Follow these instructions to find out how to use the 3D Object Editor:
- Go to “My Stuff” and select the 3D object you want to modify
- In the Object Details page, tap “Edit 3D Settings” to open the Object Editor
You will see the General Settings tab of your 3D object. Use the General Settings options to rotate or straighten your model, and adjust the Renderer and Workflow.
Access the Material Settings tab of your 3D object by tapping on the paintbrush icon at the top of the left-side menu. From this tab you will be able to select any material associated with your object and modify its color, transparency and other settings.
Finally, tap the camera icon at the top of the left-side menu to open the Thumbnail tab. Tap “Take Thumbnail” to show the frame of your object’s thumbnail. Zoom in/out, and rotate your object until you are satisfied with the positioning of your thumbnail.
Then, tap “Confirm” and “Finish”.
Finally, you can use the Merge app, Object Viewer, to view your own 3D Object in the palm of your hand with the Merge Cube, or share your object with your class.
Now that you’ve learned how to navigate the 3D Object Editor, you’re ready to begin uploading your own 3D creations and sharing them with your class!
