Add Labels with Merge Creator

Labels are a great way to add greater educational value to your 3D models, since you can label individual parts of a 3D object to provide more information. 

With the Merge Creator app, you can add multimedia labels as well! 

Follow these instructions to find out how to add multimedia labels to your objects:

Step 1 - Upload or 3D Scan your Object

Using the Merge Dashboard

  1. To upload your 3D Model on the Merge dashboard, visit dashboard.mergeedu.com and sign into your Merge EDU account
  2. Select Upload to upload your own 3D creation

Using the Merge Creator App

  1. To Upload or 3D scan an object using Merge Creator, launch the app and sign in.
  2. Select New Object. Tap either Scan or Upload.

Step 2 - Add Labels using Merge Creator

  1. From the app home screen, tap the object you wish to label
  2. Choose your label type (text, image, audio, or video)
  3. For Text labels - tap Text then give your label and name and provide a description. Then tap your object where you’d like the label to appear. Press SAVE.
  4. For Image labels, you will need to have a photo prepared in advance! Either take a photo with your device, save a photo you found online, or add an image you created to your photos. Tap Image then select the photo from your photo library. Give your label a name, tap the 3D model where you would like to place your label, then tap SAVE.
  5. For Audio labels - tap Audio. If you already have an audio file ready, select Upload. If you’d like to record a new audio file, select Record then tap the circle. If you are happy with the audio label, press SAVE. Or, you can choose to Re-Record. Give your label a name, tap where you would like to put it on your object, and press SAVE.
  6. For Video labels - tap Video. You must already have the video file ready saved to your camera roll. It can be a video you created, or a video you found online. Tap Video again, then select the video you want to add. Wait as your video processes, then give it a Title, tap the object to place your video label, then press SAVE. This may take a few minutes to process, depending on the file size of your label.
  7. To change the location of your labels: You can change the location of your labels at any time. To move the label number, tap your label, then tap edit. Tap the label number, then tap the location where you want to move it and it will move. To move the label itself, tap the label and drag it to where you want to move it. Then press SAVE. Wait a moment to let it process.

Step 3 - View your Object with Object Viewer

  1. In the Object Viewer app, tap the 3 lines menu ≡ at the top of the screen, then tap on My Objects
  2. Tap on your object to view it - you should see your labels in the same area you put them.

Step 4 - Share your Objects with Others

From the Merge Dashboard

  1. On the Merge Dashboard, tap on My Stuff on the left-side navigation menu to view your uploaded objects.
  2. Tap the object’s thumbnail to open up the object details page.
  3. Tap Share Options, then choose your preferred way to share - A link, QR Code, or Object Code. 

From the Object Viewer App

  1. Open Merge Object Viewer, then tap the 3 line menu 0349f7be-b979-42ff-a1c5-b2f4d3650ce0 from the top of the screen.
  2. Under "My Library" tap Objects
  3. Select your object by tapping it
  4. Tap Info, then tap the share button e02c6240-4aca-49fc-bde6-0f06a9688b50
  5. Choose your preferred way to share - By link, QR Code, or Object Code.
