Thank you for trying out Merge EDU! In this help article, we’ll go over what you will get with a free account vs. a paid subscription. Read the sections below to learn more about what you get with:

  • A Free Account
  • An Individual license
  • A Lab license
  • A Schoolwide license

What you get with a Free Merge EDU Account

Merge EDU apps are completely free to download and use with limited content. All you need is a Merge EDU account, then you can see what is unlocked for free.

Testing the free account is a great way to get a sample of what Merge EDU apps have, but does not represent all the amazing hands-on simulations and digital teaching aids the platform has to offer.

As a free account holder, you can also upload up to five 3D objects  to visualize on the Merge Cube. Learn more about uploading your own 3D creations here.

Please Note: Free accounts do not have any association with a school/district, or with each other. They exist completely independently of each other.

What you get with an Individual license

Individual Merge EDU licenses are meant for individuals to use at home - not for long-term lab or school use. However, an individual license can be helpful when testing out the content for a longer period than the Merge EDU free trial provides.

An Individual license provides:

  • Access to all Science Simulations in Merge Explorer for 1 user
  • Access to all Hands-on Digital Teaching Aids for 1 user
  • Access to all Globe Activities for 1 user
  • Access to Activity Plans and STEM Projects for 1 user
  • Access to the dashboard for 1 user, to upload 50 3D objects

Please Note: Individual accounts do not have any association with a school/district, or with each other. They exist completely independently of each other.

What you get with a Lab license

Lab licenses to Merge EDU are perfect for libraries, labs, makerspaces, and other areas of the school where only one group will use it at a time. Every student in the school may get an account, but only 30 simultaneous users are allowed at one time.

A Lab license provides:

  • 30 simultaneous users
  • All Science Simulations
  • All Digital Teaching Aids
  • All Activity Plans & STEM Projects
  • Teacher Dashboard
  • Free Success Resources
  • Integrations with Select SSO / Rostering Tools

Note: The accounts in a Lab license are associated with a school and also a public school district (if applicable), with a hierarchy of administrative rights.

What you get with a Schoolwide Subscription

Schoolwide subscriptions are the best way to integrate AR into your science and STEM programs! Not only can libraries, makerspaces, and labs use Merge EDU, but it can also be used in science classrooms, with no limit to the number of users who can be logged in at a time, as long as they belong to the campus with the subscription.

Schoolwide subscriptions provide:

  • Unlimited access for all students and teachers in a school
  • All Science Simulations
  • All Digital Teaching Aids
  • Activity Plans & STEM Projects
  • Teacher Dashboard
  • Free Success Resources
  • Integrations with Select SSO / Rostering Tools

Note: The accounts in a Schoolwide subscription are associated with a school and also a school district (if applicable), with a hierarchy of administrative rights.
