It’s easy to record your screen for an AR presentation with Merge EDU! Whether you’re pre-recording a remote video lesson for your students or preparing for a live presentation for your colleagues, this help article will show you just what to do.
Follow the steps below to learn how you can record a presentation with Augmented Reality:
- On iOS Devices
- On Android Devices (Internally)
- On Android Devices (with AZ Screen Recorder)
Screen Recording on an iOS Device
In iOS 11 or later, and iPadOS, you can create a screen recording and capture sound on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
- Go to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls, then tap the green “+” next to Screen Recording to enable.
- Open the Control Center by swiping down from the upper-right corner on your iOS device’s screen.
- Press and hold the gray “Record” icon to open the options. Tap the “Microphone” icon to turn it on if you would like to record sound as well.
- Tap “Start Recording”, then wait for the three-second countdown.
- Double tap the “Home” button or swipe up from the bottom of the screen to go back to your device’s main screen. You should see a red band or a red icon on the top of your iPhone/iPad screen.
- That’s it - you are now recording your device’s screen! Open the Merge EDU apps on your device to start recording yourself interacting with AR.
To Stop Recording and Share on iOS:
- Tap the red status bar or recording icon at the top of your screen, then tap “Stop”. Your recording will be saved to your “Photos” app.
- Go to the “Photos” app and select your screen recording to view.
- Tap the “Share” icon to share your recording through email, your classroom management tool, Flipgrid, or any other video sharing platform you may use.
Screen Recording on an Android Device with the Internal Screen Recorder
Many Android devices have an internal screen recording feature. Here is how you can access this feature:
- Swipe down twice from the top of your screen.
- Tap the “Screen Record” icon. You may need to swipe right to find it, if it is not on the first page. If it's not there, tap the “Edit” icon and drag the “Screen Record” icon to your Quick Settings.
Note: Be sure to check that you are allowing Samsung Capture to take pictures and record video of your screen.
- Choose your preferred Sound settings. You have the option to record with no sound, just the internal media sounds, or to record the internal sounds as well as the external mic.
- Once you’ve chosen a sound option, tap “Start Recording”.
To Stop Recording and Share on Android:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the Screen Recorder icon, or simply tap the “Stop” button.
- Your recording will be saved to your “Gallery” app.
- Open your device's “Gallery” app, then search for your video.
- Tap the “Share” icon to share your recording through email, your classroom management tool, Flipgrid, or any other video sharing platform you may use.
Screen Recording on an Android Device with AZ Screen Recorder
For those Android devices that do not have a screen recording feature built in, there are several free screen recording apps available on the app store. In this article, we’ll recommend AZ Screen Recorder.
- Launch A-Z Screen Recorder. You’ll see an overlay with four buttons appear.
- Tap the “Window” icon to open the app settings, then tap the “Gear” icon to adjust video recording settings including recording resolution, frame rate, and bit rate.
- When you’re ready to record, go back to your home page, and pull out the orange notification shade to see the four buttons again. Tap the “Video Recorder” icon to start recording.
To Stop Recording and Share on A-Z Screen Recorder:
- When you’re finished recording, pull out the notification shade. In the A-Z notification you can either pause or stop recording. Once you stop recording your video will be saved to your “My Files” app and a pop-up of the finished video will appear.
- Tap the “Share” icon to share your recording through email, your classroom management tool, Flipgrid, or any other video sharing platform you may use.
Note: If you need to come back to the video later, Open your phone's “My Files” app. Tap “Videos”, and “Screen Recordings”, then search for your video.
Now that you’ve learned how to record a presentation, you can create live presentations or record videos to teach lessons remotely!
