Head Tracking Mode
With Merge 3D, students are not passive participants - they’re engaged in active, embodied learning!
With head tracking mode, students use their head to look around and explore 3D objects with the device's camera, turning any screen into a 3D window.
In this article, we’ll share the steps to take to use Head Tracking Mode.
Note: You can use Anaglyph 3D mode in combination with head tracking!
Step 1. Sign in to the Merge 3D Dashboard
Visit dashboard.merge3D.ai and sign in.
Step 2. Select any 3D Model or Simulation
Select any 3D object or simulation from Merge EDU content, or your own 3D model from Merge Creator. For this example, I selected a 3D model from Object Viewer. I just tapped “Object Viewer” from the dashboard home screen, then selected an object from a collection.
Step 3. Activate Head Tracking + Interact!
Once you have selected a 3D model or simulation, simply tap the button that says “Head” found in the upper right corner of the screen. This will activate your device's camera for head tracking mode.
Move your head toward the camera to get closer, away from the camera to move farther away, and look left and right to interact!
Note: The labels may get in your way when interacting with your object using Head Tracking. To turn off the labels, simply tap the label icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen to turn them off.
Step 4. Deactivate it When You’re Done
When you’re done exploring your 3D models and simulations in Head Tracking mode, simply tap the “Head” button again to deactivate it.
Now that you know how to use head tracking, be sure to use it in combination with your Merge Paper Anaglyph 3D glasses!
